It is breathtaking to know that the human spirit is thriving, growing and real entity within us all that will live on past the expiration of our flesh. It is even more divinely breathtaking to know that the Holy Spirit lives amongst us to guide us through our journey here on earth. The human spirit is a crucial part of our existence that we cannot live without. At times, certain situations and adversity will take over our lives and cause a suffering that targets the spirit. When we are spiritually weak we feel pain, hopelessness & despair. In Psalm 143:4 David cries out to God "so my spirit grows faint within me". He was going through something so horrible that his entire song is a plea of help to God because the suffering he was living was destroying his spirit.

Between true believers there will be agreement that our Lord came to this world and died for our sins. However there will perhaps be a stronger and more varied debate about when He will return. Since the founding of Israel after the First World War there have been an increasing number of predictions made about the imminent return of our Lord. Personally I feel that it is misguided and perhaps even damaging to put an exact date on His return. I have even heard it said that the Lord has reneged on His promise, that he is late because Jesus spoke of returning “soon”. This is clearly a misguided attitude. It is of course true that “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” (2 Pe. 3:8)
